2016 was a banner year for women and sport in Canada, but statistics reveal that we are still far from having a sport system that is fair and equal for girls and women. Where do we go from here? This session will provide a review of the current landscape and the key factors that are informing CAAWS’s (Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport) vision as the leading voice for women and sport in Canada. Through discussion, participants will have a forum to explore the major themes and to provide input to the strategic direction for women and sport, both nationally and provincially. Participants will leave with greater insight into the landscape and opportunities to advance this topic in 2017 and beyond.
Sport organizations and teams benefit from looking back and assessing their performance. If done properly it provides an opportunity to celebrate success, encourage the continuation of effective behavior and, possibly most importantly, address what is standing in the way of organizational goals. In this workshop participants will learn how effective assessment can take place in the world of sport where stakes are high, egos are in play and resources may (or may not) be limited. Learn how to create a simple framework that allows you to plan, grade and celebrate!
