Child Sexual Abuse – Awareness and Education in Sport
The Canadian Centre for Child Protection, a national charity that works to reduce the incidence of child sexual abuse and exploitation, will provide an overview of their organization, the work they are doing in sport, the scope of the problem of sexual abuse, and highlight tools available for sport to help mitigate risk.
Many organizations state they’re aware of the positive impact embracing diversity and inclusion can have for their teams both personally and professionally. And they have good intentions and have begun efforts but aren’t sure what a true diversity and inclusion program could look like at the next level.
Worley notes it’s time to move beyond awareness and initial efforts, and go deep to reflect the diverse population of your organization’s team, clients and supporters.
This session is designed to empower staff, board members, coaches and sport professionals with practical information to help enhance child and youth safety in sport. It will increase awareness of the issue of child sexual abuse while highlighting the importance of understanding boundaries, sexual misconduct and reporting inappropriate behaviour.
