As part of Canada’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations, entry to all national parks is free for 2017. However, visitors to the park (including conference delegates) will have to acquire a 2017 Discovery Pass. They can be ordered online at this web address:
Parks Canada has mailed 3.4 million passes as of January, so there may be some delay in receiving your pass. If you would rather not wait, you can go to any National Park, National Historic Site, or National Marine Conservation Area to pick one up. If for some reason you do not have one upon arrival in Banff, you can pick up one at the park gate as you drive into Banff National Park. You will need 1 pass per vehicle.
