Catherine Gosselin-Després leads the Canadian Paralympic Committe’s (CPC) Sport Department as Executive Director, Sport. She assumed the role since November 2013. She is responsible for implementing the CPC’s strategic and operational vision in the area Paralympic Games Preparation, Planning and Delivery for multiple sets of Games as well as for the whole area of Paralympic Performance and Pathway inclusive of classification, athlete ID and transfer, development of a sustainable Paralympic system and overall relations of all national sport organisations. Since her arrival in 2013 the overall CPC Sport Strategy has been completely revised with enhance focused on national sport organisations relationships, proactive Quadrennial Games Planning and Preparation as well as extra attention towards Paralympic pathway in relations to the development of a sustainable system. Catherine is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Canada Games Council and the Chair of the Sport Committee.
Previously at Synchro Canada from 2005 to 2013, Catherine had various roles within the organisation. She started as Sport Development Manager, became COO and than CEO from 2008 to 2013. During her tenure, Catherine also had to assume interim roles to support the high-performance area. Prior to this Catherine was program coordinator at Canoe Kayak Canada from 2001 to 2005.
Originally, from Quebec City, Gosselin-Després has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology specialised in high performance sport from Laval University. She has a Master’s degree in Sport Management from University of Ottawa.
